ABOUT JOANNE CASEY

Education
Practitioner

Joanne Casey is an education practitioner who works in a range of contexts to support reform agendas that build sustainable practices over time. Her focus remains on improved outcomes for ALL students. She understands schools are complex environments requiring flexible but research-based approaches to achieve improved outcomes for those they serve.

Joanne recognises that collaborative interactions can be powerful and at the same time problematic to accomplish. This is especially true when balancing multiple, and sometimes competing demands within limited time frames. However, she is keenly aware that relationships are foundational to this work and the importance they play for successful implementation of school improvement initiatives. This is why her PhD focuses on associations among cognitive limitations for interactions, collaboration as a strategy for improvement and silo mentality in (secondary) school contexts.

As an educator having worked across three education sectors (Catholic, Independent and State), Joanne has extensive teaching experience in Primary, Secondary and Tertiary contexts. Joanne has held a range of leadership roles in curriculum, pedagogy, and literacy. She mentors and coaches school leaders and lead teachers as they plan clear, actionable, and achievable steps to support student growth through leveraging teacher practices. Joanne also supports teams in developing and or implementing their own pedagogical or instructional frameworks. She is an experienced presenter with a passion for all aspects of teaching and learning.
